This is a completely innovative concept as it is lighter, more affordable and, most importantly, better for the environment!

The car is built like an electrical car. It has been conceived in order to reduce CO2 emissions and protect the environment. To do so, the weight of the car had to be reduced: This is why the Toyota ME.WE has an aluminum structure under a body formed from expanded polypropylene (EPP), a light, strong and recyclable material.

In this way, the Toyota ME.WE weighs only 750 kg; 20% less than a traditional B-segment vehicle with a steel body. The weight difference is mostly due to the difference in mass between polypropylene body panels (only 14 kg) steel panels.

It remains to be seen if this prototype will be realised or if the industry is not yet ready to adopt such changes.
